ABC PM – whatever you do don’t mention the CASA regulatory cost

This link is to a podcast from the ABC’s PM of Thursday of last week about foreign airlines flying internally to reduce costs. Note how it makes no mention of CASA and the regulatory cost that is forcing the ticket price up so much.

I actually hadn’t heard the idea of allowing overseas airlines to fly these country routes. Imagine if Garuda came into the Territory with a few old Cessnas. There could probably be some quite substantial savings – I don’t know.

I have written to the PM producer to see if they are prepared to cover the CASA issue and the Act stating that safety has to be put before affordability. Notice that the actual commentator uses that terrible word “affordability”. Very brave.
