Don’t think they could go wrong with these. Great aeroplane for aeromedical flights. The sim could be a good money spinner if they opened it up to third party use, particularly given the fact that there are a handful of 400s already in the region, probably also satisfy the requirements to be used for DHC-6-200 and 300 training.
Wonder where these aeroplanes will sit in the new rule set given that we aren’t going for a Part 125?

I’d rather be trying to land a twotter in a paddock than a Kingair. Slower with less range but as long as it fits in with the coverage area it should still be okay. It won’t be too welcome at major airports with its low speed and I wouldn’t want to be in one on a filthy night with lack of pressurisation limiting it to 10 000’. Non pressurised could be a limiting factor with some injuries as well.
A rugged, no nonsense bush aircraft with less to go wrong than more complex types, I’m sure it will soon establish its niche in the operation.

I used to fly them into Sydney, ATC loved them and occasionally gave us some requests to do some pretty unorthodxed manouvering to facilitate traffic management. Can't see them being a problem at all if they are flown in CAT B.

Odd the flight global report has gone.
I was a little surprised at an order from RFDS for Twin Otters based at Dubbo, but I am no expert.
Maybe it was an example of that overused term “fake news”.

I don't think RFDS will nudge Angel Flight out.
The reality is RFDS is a quasi commercial organisation that only flies when it gets paid either by government or donations. It actively competes against commercial organisations behind an umbrella of a charity.
And before anyone yells unfair, RFDS does a great job but it's tentacles reach beyond its original scope of operation.
As Angel Flight mostly operates on the good graces of us fellow pilots donating our time and basic aircraft cost, RFDS would not be a party to flying what amounts to a flight that doesn't at least earn total operating costs.
