So....what was happening this afternoon? (Central Gold Coast)

Coming home tonight I spotted a smoke column rising into the air....and following it to the top I saw what may have been an Extra 300 hanging by it's prop...was very close to where I often see model aircraft operators....and thought to my self, that's a very large model aircraft....but no...was full sized and making a fantastic aerobatic display over the Royal Pines area...went on for long enough for me to pull over and watch the finish of the display.....wonder what it was??? Lots of passing over gated residential communities at fairly low level??

Matt Hall: "QBE Insurance Australia recently asked us: "If you were allowed to fly over the Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA) National Convention at RACV Royal Pines Resort in any way, how would you do it?"

Response: "Inverted, a dash of smoke & killer lighting." So today at 540pm QLD time, we're doing it! We've done a lot of planning for this show, it'll be great."

Bugger! How about a quiet heads-up in advance next time, even the RAAF generally let us yokels know when they're intending something interesting in the area.
