All quiet on the Western Front

Long time since there has been a thread or a post that is even slightly critical of the Aussie National Aviation Authority. Has a truce been declared?

Well recently I applied for a Part 41 training certificate. The service provided was professional, courteous and (relatively) cheap. I am not sure why I thought it may be otherwise, but it wasn't. It also happened in a timely manner.

I should also add that the application was simple ....

Anyone who's been around a while knows that it makes not a schmick of positive difference who happens to be silly or sociopathic enough to become DAS. The regulatory and political framework puts a straighjacket on whoever it happens to be.

Positive change can only come from changing the framework, not the talking head trapped or thriving in it.

Jeez Frank, we both know Mike has more sense than to subject himself to that sort of frustrating waste of his time. Why would anyone willingly work in such a culturally stunted organisation.

The drums may be muffled, there are machinations afoot and Cantberra has been having visits.
While those in Non Av house may hide in the office and not come out to talk, certain Pollies and X bench Senators are taking a serious interest.

Dr Hoodoo may need to conjure up some witchcraft or arrange some "discrepancies", CYA 101 is in full train. The usual.

Consider the CASA soviet like North Korea, ..and I use an analogy from "the Impossible State" (NK)

"True reforms will never occur until the the iron grip on the Agency is prized from the leadership"

CASA is just an agency the DIRD which is a branch of the Executive Government, like all the other "Departments" or what used to be called more accurately "Ministries". CASA does what it's political masters want it to do. Forget Forsyth Reviews and all other such paraphernalia. They do not ask for reviews without knowing what the outcome will be.

CASA exists, like the DIRD to separate the Minister from the industry. If things go wrong the Minister cannot be held responsible, if things are good then it is all down to the Minister and the Government.

CASA works for the DIRD, the DIRD works for the Minister. You are all wasting your time firing bullets at the wrong target.
