Aero Club & Association rules question
I am interested in how your club/association treats nominations for committee member positions at the AGM when there is only one nomination for that position.
Is your constitution specific in such a case or is it covered elsewhere?
Thanks in advance

In the 4 club/assoc I'm in, if only one nomination for a given position, the nominee just gets in.
One has 1200 or so members, so the members actually end up with no vote at all. Not ideal, but what's the alternative. I dunno. To the nominees I say thanks for jumping on board. But be a participant, not just a passenger.
In my 4 groups, these days, nobody wants to nominate, it's a real struggle. The members don't care, they just want someone else/anyone else/everyone else to do everything for them. In my 4 groups, no more than 10% of members turn up to an AGM. They just don't care, as long as it's not them having to do anything. They pay their membership fee, and expect all the things the club does to be provided to them. Not for them, TO them. By someone else/anyone else/everyone else.
And finally, yes, I'm on committees for some, and actively do important sideline stuff for the others.

ausport.gov.au has good info on governance of clubs in general however refers to the laws of different states
e.g. In Victoria https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/club...rules#rule4952
"If your association has its own rules, they must still address all 18 mandatory Matters of the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012. There are also an additional five Matters that are optional.
...
(2) If only one member is nominated for the position, the Chairperson of the meeting must declare the member elected to the position."
