A quote from ABC News yesterday:

"Roma-based pilot Andrew Luhrs flew nine people out to Birdsville, landing on the town's main strip.
But he could not park his plane on the gravel cross-strip because of the risk of bogging.
He said he was forced to fly to Boulia, 400 kilometres away, for the weekend."

The races are on today. I've invested $10 on 'Tabella Castle' in race one for a win.

We were going but found fishing in the Gulf much more suitable.

They notammed out the dirt on the morning of Friday and it was all downhill from there.

I have a still grab from a Channel 9 video but don't know how to post here. It was of some "lucky" souls who must have landed while dry. Didn't look like much fun. They are probably still there

Nothing wrong with Boulia! Spent many an 'interesting' Saturday Night there, albeit quite a few years ago!
