Flight planning

Hi guys,

What is the suggested route from Straddie (YDUN) to Tamworth in a Cessna? Both IFR and VFR suggests welcome. I'm not familiar with the airspace and there seems to a lot of options. Some must be better than others.

Cheers FT

VFR just go direct depending on weather, if you're IFR and want to do it all fancy track Dun to Laravale to Armidale to Tamworth. With the Airspace around there I'd just suggest going VFR if the day is nice enough for it and stay clear of the Airspace as you'd be pottering through a few different common entry routes from the south or track VFR to Laravale to clear the Brisbane and/or Gold Coast traffic then pick up IFR from there.

Why wait to Laravale? Put in a plan, get identified and go. BN ATC will massage the rest.

They are very accommodating around here.

I wouldn't fly that route VFR direct if weather looked bad. Too much tiger country. It could result in you having to change your prune moniker to "Roo Ted"
