TBO Extension TPE 331
Has anyone had any experience with obtaining a TBO extension with the TPE 331 series turbine engine for private ops ?
From AD/GEN 5 it appears there is no straight forward process

If anyone has had any experience in obtaining an extension or the process involved please let me know

I've only had experience with PW, but TBO extensions are normally part of a manufacturers approved program. The manufacturer makes a recommendation for an extension after your first and subsequent overhauls, and with this you then apply to the regulator for the respective TBO extensions.
Does Honeywell have an approved program that you are aware of?
Sorry if this sounds quite generalised.

Not that I am aware of for the dash 3 engine
The TBO extensions only seem to be in place for the dash 10 and above and appear only to be for commercial operators flying a min of xxx hours a year
There is very little info around and it seems to be an odd question when I have asked around as most turbine machines are commercially operated

I think you will find that a PT6 TBO extension is dependent upon being maintained to an approved system of maintenance, minimum annual utilisation and for SE, automated trend monitoring.
A few privately owned PT6 turbines I am aware of are on base HSI and TBO hours, no extensions.
No idea about TPE331's, dreadful, noisy things one manually winds up after shut down to avoid distorting the main shaft.

Talk to Steve
The GURU Steve W at BNE Pacific Turbine is your man
Very knowledgeable & helpful.
Yes, not much support around for your smaller Dashed TPEs these days which is real surprising considering their price & reliability
BY THE WAY > THE TPE 331 DASH 11 is the most powerful & economical aero engine on the market currently.
1000 SHP, 7000 HRS TBO, $197 000 overhaul, no oil consumption & only 130 lts p/h
You can have your oil burning, thirsty, expensive & lower TBO PT6 anyday
