Dick for PM
It looks like Dick wants to shake politics. I'll vote for him.

I wish him good luck.
(A few years back we had a dick for Prime Minister here in UK. Unfortunately, our one was called Tony).

I wonder if Dick is just a little miffed that some undertakings allegedly made by minister Truss have been reneged upon and so he is going to have a crack at getting in there and doing it himself.
I wish him all the best. I don't think we could have a better person in politics to try and salvage what is left of GA in this country.

If He can get rid of that corrupt bisHop it'll be good.
The big problem with Mr Smith is that He's one of them global warming hysterics. A full on bible bashing believer apparently...

Hold on Binghi. I am patron of the Australian Skeptics.
However I do believe there is a chance that burning fossil fuels that have taken millions of years to sequest may effect our atmosphere.
Five flights around the world at low level confirm to me that 7 billion humans can effect our environment .
But as one of Australia's greatest carbon users I can hardly complain that we won't do anything about the problem until there is an disaster.
At least I am still interested in having a thriving aviation industry. Many others have given up.

Go for it Dick!
You will be a great advocate for the people of Wentworth and if you can emulate the US, you can have some influence. Form a group of aviation minded members in the House to push for changes, turn all of them into aviation independents.

Hey Dick,
IF you DO get 'in', can you please indicate just what you hope to achieve?
Replacing Bishop would / can only be a 'good thing' after her use of taxpayers dollars for her own 'convenience'.
At least if you attend a function in the Kangaroo Valley, you can fly your own 'chopper' in, or would you feel justified in asking T/A for the fuel etc...?
And if I may suggest, you will have to have a 'plan' with an 'ending'.....
12/12/1991 was the first 'cut' in F.S., and it ain't fixed yet.......
Griffo
p.s. I can't vote for you anyway as I don't live in your electorate....and if you asked me if I would...
However, I do care about 'our' industry.....
So, If you do have success, how about getting ALL of the current 'legal-speak' rules changed back to phrases / clauses of one sentence.
You know, words that we, the great unwashed, can actually read and understand...??
Then, maybe adopt the NZ rules....easy to read and work a treat apparently.....

Achieve Griffo?
Reg reform mess and ADS-B implementation/roll back might be on Dick's agenda.
Copy and past the Kiwi regs overnight like PNG done with the Balus program about 15 years ago.

Running in the House of Reps is pointless. There are too few Dickolytes in Mackellar to get him voted in.
Run in the Senate and make sure every pilot, aircraft owner and engineer, every ATCer and every enthusiast votes for you. Your potential constituency would change from 150,000 to the full population of NSW.
...you will also have 6 years in the job (double dissolutions notwithstanding) and more time to ensure changes promised are actually delivered.
In other news, assuming Barnaby is re-elected this year, he will probably be Minister for Transport. There are a number of operators in his electorate and I for one know he "gets it". There is some hope yet.

Senate is the go I reckon Dick.
Then you can team up with the only other poli in Canberra that has shown any interest in aviation over the years.... Nick Xenophon.
The two of you could become quite the persuasive force and make reforms that may just save the ailing industry...
What do you think?
