MOUNT HOUSE - no mud in my time!

Centaurus - great story.

In my time as an ATC at Mount House we had two problems - dust and the morning drop out of the VHF.

Could do nothing about the dust - and you should have seen it when the Herc's disregarded the "no reverse props" note. The "local" CC08 drivers - Grades at al - all knew the dangers.

The VHF drop out was easily solved: NOTAMed the HF OOS 0700-0730 and used that gen set for the jug and toaster.

Was the grass shelter still there? We used it as the tower except when the RFDS arrived and claimed their surgery back.

For those wondering why we had ATC at Mount House - Exercise Appian Way in the early 1970's. Six week precursor for the Kangaroo series. People think they had a long history having been on K89. Some of us can still remember K1!!
