Licence conversion

Howdy,

So I converted my NZCAA licence over to CASA a while ago. All of my NZCAA licences/ratings have lapsed. My CASA Multi-engine IFR (which has also lapsed!) only has VOR/NDB approaches endorsed on it. If I were to add on say an RNAV/ILS during a renewal or whatever is there then anyway I can convert that back to NZCAA and gain a year of currency on it? Or do I have to go back to NZ to renew my IFR??

I dont really have the money to do that.... only reason is because of the newest ANZ expression of interest, which I probably just have the hours for it now.

Thanks!!

If you added an IAP 3D (ILS) to your CASA instrument rating/ATPL, you could have the ILS added to your NZCAA licence, but this would have no affect on currency in NZ. I'm not sure how it works with a GNSS rating (NZCAA) now that CASA only recognise IAP 2D and 3D - I'd imagine you'd need to show evidence of a prof check/flight review using a specific GPS. The only time TTMRA conversion gives rise to currency is the initial conversion - after that, your flight review (CASA) or IR renewal (NZCAA) needs to be current in the country you intend to operate in.

On a side note, be aware that much of the TTMRA documentation has not been updated to reflect the CASA move to Part 61.

NZ IR RENEWAL

Just to confirm , If the NZ IR is renewed does that mean once I convert that ( IR) to CASA , will it appear as 2D/3D or just the conventional ILS/NDB ?

I have a CASA CPL issued on TTMRA and done a AFR and obtained a MOS 61 license now planning to renew my NZ IR shortly

I assume it would go to 2D/3D. My NDB gave me a 2D on CASA part 61 licence.

Yip, there is no such thing as ILS or NDB/ADF on a CASA Part 61 IR/ATPL, so you'll get IAP 3D and 2D.
