Passengering today in a Virgin Embraer, I was surprised to hear the CS introduce the Captain as Mr John Smith and the First Officer as Mr Joe Bloggs.
Asking a Flight Attendant later if it was widespread for CSs to refer to the Flight Crew as Mr, I was given an emphatic no and told it was just something Wxxx liked to do. I wonder if he does it on checks.
Is this a much needed new egalitarianism?
Is this a safety issue, or an attempt to demean?
What for the femail Flight Crew? Ms, Miss or Mrs?

We are talking about the operator who no longer refers to the pax as 'passengers', always sounds a bit strange to me on the PA's in the airport when they refer to 'the guests'.
