RIP Rob Bartlett

RIP Rob Bartlett, Yorkeys Knob, Cairns.
Rob passed away peacefully on Friday after suffering from throat cancer.

"Watch your airspeed", mate!

Oh! How sad.

I used to work for Rob on the Gold Coast. Last I knew (quite a few years ago), he was living in the Gold Coast again after working elsewhere for a while. Didn't know he'd moved north.

Rob gave me my aerobatic instructor endorsement, even though he knew I was leaving the company (for my 1st CFI position so a career progression move rather than bad feelings).

I've often wondered what he'd been up to since our last contact, so long ago.

Rob was not a proud man. He had been there done that and had absolutely nothing to prove. He was quick to praise others who didn't have 10% of his experience or knowledge. A great loss to the industry. RIP Rob!!!

Jamair, Yep that's him. I think it was ODE AND OMM that he used to fly out west doing crew runs.

Clear sky's mate.

Rob was my instructor for my IR. He was working at Barrier in Cairns.

Ran into him a couple of months ago at the shops and he told me he had cancer. Stiff upper lip.

"Watch your airspeed, that **** will kill ya"

Lots of knowledge and was always happy to pass it on.

I think he used to fly twotters out near Fiji as well.

One of the good guys. RIP.

I had the great pleasure of working for Rob. He was always very encouraging, friendly and ready to share his knowledge.
