"Pilbara Airport" - WHICH ONE?! Does the government actually know there is more than one airport in the Pilbara?!

The State Government probably does. The brain dead WA Today journos probably don't.

Here is the actual document.

All I want is a rail link to the airport. When 4 interstate jets roll up at once you cant get a taxi and its congested as hell. There is one little mention in Part 8 of a potential rail link to the airport.

Perth airport is only interested in parking and warehousing.

Maybe John Wagner should have built his new airport in WA and not Toowoomba

But what Wagners have proved is that without all the beaureucratic bullsh*t and red tape of da gubbernmint den its easy!

Have a look in Jakarta apparently owner of lion air has decided to build his own airport.

Got money and no gubbernmint process easy!

Sydney second airport bahaa Perth haha carnt even get its 1 right!

Interesting to see how the W.A. Govt has only suddenly woken up to the fact that no airport in W.A. is included in any Gubbmint planning and development.
They've been allowed to develop (or not develop) as the owners/lessees saw fit, totally independent of any Govt plans.

Interesting points to ponder from the W.A. Govt Aviation Strategy;

1. There won't be any new airport at Perth until the current one reaches saturation levels - projected to be 2050.

2. Defence has obviously blown in the right ears, the Gubbmint is following the RAAF line that Pearce is off-limits to ANY civil development or use, whatsoever.
"We were here first, and we're staying as a military base forever! You're just going to have to continue to work around us!"

3. The W.A. Gubbmint is intent on pushing the installation of the 3rd runway and want it in by 2019. Good luck with that.
That means construction would need to start within 12 mths. That's not going to happen.
It will only happen after the current airport owner has squeezed every last possible dollar out of the current setup.
With the huge mining/oil & gas slowdown currently hitting the State hard, the pressure is effectively off for the 3rd runway.
I went to the domestic terminal this afternoon to drop off the stepson, and I have never seen the airport so quiet. It was just like the "good ole days".

4. The Gubbmint is intent on doubling the air-arrival tourist trade. Good luck with that, too. There's a lot more improvements needed in the tourist accommodation cost, the costs of getting around, and the other facilities needed, to draw in double the amount of tourists, than we get at present.

Why build something only to sell it off later?
Why build a new airport with my budget when they can get away with patching up the old one to stay in government?
Wagner did just what the Government wanted. No wonder the usual red tape and bull**** was passed so quickly.
