Can anyone tell me what books I need to study to pass the "Flight Instructor Rating Common" exam ?

Preparing Instructional Objectives by Robert F Mager is quite a good read.

Also the FAA Aviation Instructors Handbook FAA-H-8083-9 shall do the job.
