Garmin Flightstream

Has anyone looked into this fancy box from Garmin that allows you to wirelessly sync flightplans from your ipad to your GTNs/GNSs (Waas versions only, mind you) as well as provide a pseudo glass cockpit display on your ipad?

At a cursory glance it sounds like a great idea, but delving a bit deeper it seems it only pairs with the Garmin Pilot app, which uses Jepp nav data, which means more annual subscriptions etc.

Reading the small print, although it talks about worldwide navigational data, it doesn't look like they offer Australian IFR plates or safetaxi, only weather and radar overlays.

I thought it could be a substitute for the current EFB apps but it's looking more like an additional (expensive) subscription app for checking weather and wireless transferring flight plans to the GNS430W.

Has anyone looked into this further or have any first hand experience, or even better, installed it yet?
