AWIS costs

Can anyone provide me with an approximate cost of installation and ongoing costs of an AWIS in Australia?

Cheers

For a fully certified basic weather station you are looking at $250k-$350k.

That includes;
- Wind speed and direction
- Cloud base
- Visibility
- RH %
- DP
- QNH
- site works and install

Add $60k a year for BOM TAF/METAR services.

Probably about a hundred bucks if you bought it overseas.

That's $500 bucks and $249,500 for CAsA to approve it.

Depends of you want it available via the internet, phone and or VHF.

Could do it moderately cheap over the web accessible by iPhone etc non approved, non certified.

If you are talking VHF you'll obviously need an icom base station or similar, capable of 24x7 transmission, so add over a grand to your weather station costs.

If you don't need rainfall or cloud over it should be fairly accurate and useful and not ridiculously expensive.

Some of them allow you to phone into them too, but then you are talking phone rental too.
