Use of VFG in PPL exam
Hi all,
I am trying to seek further clarification about the use of the Visual Flight Guide in the CASA PPL exam.
On the CASA website it states that "The VFG referred to in these lists of permitted material is that document produced by CASA"
A friend of mine who completed his exam in the past used the VFG written by ATC.
My question is did the rules change, where you are now only strictly permitted to use the document from the CASA website, or are you still able to bring the ATC version into the exam?
Thanks,
Daniel

I can't tell you for sure, I am beginning to learn I know squat about the regulations and have put my foot in it too many times here on pprune to say yay or nay. However if I was supervising your exam I would think it was ok and allow it.
You may consider downloading the real deal from CASA but it is a big unwieldy doco and expensive to print. BTW the low resolution version has very poor print capabilities and you will get poor graphs etc.
The one thing I do recommend is don't attempt the exam without it and look up everything regarding legislation and rules of the air before answering the question. You will have heaps of time to do this and it guarantees that at least these questions are answered correctly.
The ATC VFG appears to be a heap smaller than the CASA version so I am guessing it must have a less in it.

Visual Flight Guide (VFG)
The VFR Flight Guide (VFG) is permitted for PPL exams only.
NOTE: The VFG referred to here, and in these lists of permitted material, is that document produced by CASA and not by a third party.

Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Permitted material under Part 61
Get the HIGH-RES PDFs, I think it's split into one PDF for each chapter, take it to somewhere like Officeworks and have it printed in COLOUR and bound for around $45.00.
To save costs, have them place two A5 sized PDF pages side by side on each A4 sheet, double sided.
