So... back to the "traps"...
I passed my RPL flight test a few weeks ago (yay) and was told that I have to wait for the actual RPL to be processed and mailed to me by CASA before I can conduct the required 4 pax carrying flights to move on to Navs. (boooo)
Advice given to me by CLARC this morning was a 4 week wait at current processing times. Any one else in the same bucket?
I wonder if the same issue impacts full time students as well? I'd imagine that would a pain in the backside, or a welcome respite (yay month long holiday?), depending on how one looks at it.
Prior to the change, with GFPT you just get a sign off and off you go...

Caedus, I have found nothing in Part 61 that says you have to do 4 pax carrying flights before starting navigation. Who has told you this and what is the reference from part 61 that requires it?
There should be no reason you can not go straight onto navs. In fact there is nothing to stop you doing the RPL test incorporating a nav flight so that you get the RPL with nav endorsement at the same time.

I'm on a 150hr intergrated CPL course, and part of the syllabus right after GFPT (or RPL now) is 2 pax carrying solo flights on my original training aircraft and another 2 pax carrying solo flight after being signed off to fly a different aircraft, then move on to Navs.
So I take it its a bit different from shop to shop.

This whole nonsense created by CASA has reached its peak. What could possibly get worse?
Why doesn't CASA just copy and paste US FARs and make everyone's life better?
I guess we outsmart the yanks huh.

Caedus, it looks like you are trapped by the rigidity of the 150 hr course. Your organization may have to consider a change to the structure to keep you moving. Possibly the option to move onto the navs while waiting or why bother at all with the RPL, just skip it and move onto PPL. Best of luck getting your RPL quickly. We have had waiting times from 3 weeks to over eight weeks.

Hmm well gonna wait and see what happens. Pretty sure I'm not the only one in the same situation as we have had a few people pass their RPL flight test recently as well.
