From memory it's Class E between 2500-4500. VFR flight permitted w/o clearance provided you have a transponder squawking 1200.

That being said, it's still a good idea to give AV APP a call and check in with your intentions.

All other posts are good advice, it's very easy. I've called up on previous occasions only to be told not to bother, not necessary.

Av Approach, stay in class E, but remember class E extends quite a way across the Belarine Peninsula.

If you forget that and start descending somewhere near Point Henry then Avalon will be calling you..

Hi XXX,

The OP asked how to transit AV OCTA. You can transit, but it will have to be in controlled airspace. I answered truthfully, this time.

Hi. I'm planning on transiting Avalon Class E.

Can I just confirm the procedures are: transponder 1200, listening watch on Avalon Approach and remain within Class E? Anything else I am missing?

And should I still boradcast my intentions on Avalon Approach to let them know that I'm planning to transit?

The answers you seek are:

A. Yes.

B. Yes, optional, but good practice. If you call you will be identified in their system and they will know who you are to give traffic advice etc to.

Enjoy.

Best advice I've read in a while. Class E is useless if your transponder's not squawking. Nobody can see you and TCAS won't work against you. Check with ATC that they can see you. Dick and Leadsled @#$%^&!!!
