Darwin award candidates and CASA fodder

Posted to Facebook today in the Necknomianation craze is two complete tossers hanging from a helicopter while downing beers. Clearly having the money to afford a helicopter and licence does not imply having the intelligence and judgment to deserve either.

VH-YBL for those who are interested.

Unless the VH has been photo-shopped into the video, it seems yet another fish has thrown himself into the CASA frying pan.

Astonishing.

The real retard was the one flying it. - Let's see:

Loading more pax than seats? not strapping pax in, not securing cargo on skids (if allowed at all?) dropping objects (are bogans 'objects'?).
And the biggie - setting himself up to be caught.... SO EASILY. Derrr.

He does not need to be prosecuted for any of the above. Mental disorders are a defence against most crimes. Surely his medical examiner will certify him as of unsound mind and he won't be flying anything ever again?

When I go to bed tonight I will pray that Darwin gets them all before they have a chance to breed.

What is it about helicopter pilots that compels them to do really dumb things and then post it on Youtube?

Every other time this has been done it's ended up in tears for the video stars.

It's a bit hard to stay low-key and off the regulatory radar when you hoon around in a bright orange R44 and post a video on Youtube.

The passengers in the yellow Ferrari looked like Lebo drug dealers.

I thought I was having fun once but realised 30 seconds too late that I came too close to permanently emptying my bag of luck and my bag of experience was pretty darn empty as well.

Maybe the pilot is looking for a job at a certain FNQ station coz he seems to be "keeping up with" them.

Yeah both the Chopper vid and the budgie smuggler shark diver were on the news in one night. Why TF do they show this on TV - Just more clowns want to try it.

But yeah - Why oh why do something stupid and illegal and post it on the net with your REGO? That is seriously dumb.

At least they had the sense to grab and let go of the skids together.

CASA won't do anything about it.

Actual safety issues in GA don't get a look in. Only trivial paperwork inconsistencies by AOC holders are of interest to CASA. They'll probably give the lot of them (pilot and "passengers") jobs as FOIs

C'mon guys! - Ya get a few blokes showing off their superior daredevil and machine control skills - and you lot get all conchy and righteous and PC about it!

Ya gotta remember, these blokes are practicing for an upcoming amazing bushfire rescue, or for prime roles in a new action TV series!!
Cruise and all the other hero actors are proud of 'em! - they're doing all the stunt work themselves!

Somebody earlier mentioned mitigating against the risks with this little act of stupidity......the single best and most effective mitigating strategy is:
DON'T DO IT!

Cactusjack, there have been some serious offences noted in this foolishly-videoed episode. By the time the NSW EPA has finished with this pack of littering crims, they'll have to sell the Ferrari to pay the littering fines.

NSW Litter Laws:

"The littering offences are:

littering (including littering from vehicles): depositing litter on land or waters in a public place or an open private place
aggravated littering: littering which is reasonably likely to cause or contribute to appreciable danger or harm to any persons, animals, premises or property
depositing, or causing someone to deposit, advertising material in a public place or open private place other than in a mail box or under a door
depositing, or causing someone to deposit, advertising material on any vehicle.
The littering fines applicable to these offences are:

a single fine for littering has been replaced with a tiered range of fines
$60 for littering with small items, such as bottle tops and cigarette butts
$200 for general littering, and for littering from vehicles
$400 for littering from a vehicle (corporations)
$375 for aggravated littering which threatens public safety or the environment, such as intentionally breaking glass or depositing lit cigarette butts during fire seasons
$750 for aggravated littering (corporations)
littering on private land will be better regulated
from 1 April 2001 it will be illegal for advertising material to be placed under car windscreen wipers, on property gates or fences, and other inappropriate areas where it has the potential to become litter."
