Debonair engine upgrade

G'day all

Has anyone had any experience upgrade from the 470 to the 520 in oz? Got a worn out 470 and thinking an upgrade with a TR 520 might be the go to cart a bit more around.

I've heard cowl flaps might need to be installed but found some mixed results from the states.

Has it been done here? Does anyone have a 520 with time remaining on it? What else needs to be done?
Cheers
Charlie

Charlie,
I understand that the only STC for a IO-520 install on a IO-470 Deb is by D'Shannon.
Their install documents are here: Documents | D'Shannon Aviation

The STC data is here: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgstc.nsf/0/714c792048cccceb862575990068a28d/$FILE/SA2200SW.pdf

You need to check that your current prop is supported by the STC.

Cowl flaps can be added by the STC. You might want to ask on BeechTalk to see who has done the conversion, whether they had the cowl flaps added and how they have found the results.

Have you asked the Australian Bonanza Society about the conversion? They may have had members who have done the conversion in Australia and can give some guidance.
