Stop after Birdsville Races

Last year we stopped off at the Dig Tree, well worth a visit.

We then followed Coopers Creek down to Innamincka. We had phoned ahead to check the fuel status. After we landed the van from the pub turned up and took us into town. We had an excellent lunch at the pub, our pax enjoyed the cold beers. After lunch the guy who runs the store, also does the avgas, drove us back to the strip. He had a good setup to refuel from drums on his trailer.

The strip - the town strip at Innamincka has a few stones as part of its gravel, and it slopes up to the west.

Safe flying JERR

Planning on doing a blue mountains scenic on the way out there.

Question: How low are you allowed to fly up lake burragorang and the blue mountains? I would like to fly some from Camden to Katoomba following the lake and have read the "fly neighbourly" advice. Seeing as the lake is about 400' is the lowest altitude requested would seem to be 2400' . Are there "scenic routes" where lower flight is permitted? The ersa mentions
these special routes but I can't find any reference to them .

Looks like there's already been an "oops" up there. Heard Melbourne Centre advising a C560 heading that way a couple of hours ago that there was a disabled aircraft on the runway. The curse of Birdsville weekend strikes again!

Its on the ATSB website already. Reading between the lines, a Cherokee bounced on landing then over-ran the airstrip.

Thanks for that. FlightAware has it scheduled out of YBDV for YMRE on Sunday - somehow I don't think so!

Brilliant. Bankstown
To bourke , bourke to thargomindah . Then into birdsville by last light. Sleeping in swags under the stars rum in hand. Broke about even on the nags , boxing events and broads, birdsville to the dig tree , on to refuel at tiboburra, then lunch at cobar . A fantastic roast, to sneak into Bankstown by last light.

I highly recommend it
