New Pilot Exam system PEXO

Civil Aviation Safety Authority - New Pilot Exam system

Haven't seen a thread on this yet, seems a bit confusing for people who have half completed their ATPL's.

How long before they decide to put a timeframe on your completed ATPL theory credit validity?!?

I see they are transitioning to a 2 yr exam credit validity now for ATPLs. I couldn't get them all done in 3!

Note: A candidate who has completed some subject-parts, but does not have a full theory credit or a complete ‘bundle’ on 3 December 2013, will find that any subject-parts passed on or before 4 December 2011 will have expired, as the three-year window changes to a two-year rolling window on 4 December 2013.

Seems to me like they just want to screw everyone over yet again and get more money out of it. Especially since the fail rate for flight planning is still quite high.

From an operational point of view, the Cyberexams software does not run on any later versions of Windows. We only have one Windows XP machine left, and only for Cyberexams

Perhaps you didn't have the appropriate opportunity and resources to study them? 2 years is still quite reasonable for those that are serious about getting them done I think.

I did all 7 first go in about 4 months self study. And I assure you, I ain't no scholar student

If you happen to currently reside overseas its quite difficult to get it done in 2 yrs, especially when you only get 3 weeks vacation per yr. I'd agree with you if CASA created a system where there were a couple o.s. places one could sit the exam or a way to do them remotely.

I did 3 in April 11 and was planning on finishing the rest by April 14 (3 years)- now apparently my 3 will expire on dec 6.....I'm outraged they have cut me short by 4-5 months and will be demanding at the very least a refund for the money I spent on the exams- anyone else in the same boat?

I am surprised they can just move the goal posts like that to be honest...surely if you embarked on a course of training with set of provisos attached and which you plan for ie time frames etc, its a bit rich to turn around and say sorry, suck it up.

Can't they just say, if you commenced your training on the old system ie three years for exams, no flight test for ATPL, or extra IF hours for a CPL H etc etc, you finish on the old system...if you commence your training after Dec 6 you fall under the new system...I am a simple man so maybe I am looking at things too simply!

I am also in a similiar boat to what is also mentioned, live overseas and do an exam on the odd occasion that I am home...have to ramp it up a notch or two...and spend some money on a flight or two home.....I agree with the above comments reference overseas locations for exams

Cheers
