If you go onto the Live ATC website from a pc or mac (not iPad) and then find the archive section you can filter out to a half hour period and download the file as an mp3

If you were involved in an 'incident' or whatever, you can approach ASA, as all operational 'tapes' are retained for 30 days, then recycled.

Well, that's how it used to be......

I understand that actual 'tapes' may no longer be used, it would no doubt be a 'chip' or a 'card' by now....

Cheers

GRIFFO - it's ASA, so I'm thinking that it will still be tapes!!

ASA - State of the art, circa 1954!!

If my memory serves me they are big reel to reel tapes with all voice, radar, data etc digitally recorded. If I remember correctly the tape has 16 tracks across it and in Brissie I think there were 3 live and 3 warm and 1 cold recorder all the time

Don't know what the centre's do these days, but certainly no physical tapes in the towers these days.

LiveATC is the easiest way

Trouble is liveATC won't necessarily prove what was said as it doesn't record everything. I think it scans frequencies and can chop the first bit as it scans.

As an aside, I've seen a crew pinged with an ESIR for non compliance with taxi instructions at an international airport. First thing they (and the company) knew about it was 11 months later at a CASA audit. Tapes long gone...

Recordings are digital. Contact SY ATC with your issue - depending on the reason for the request you may be able to listen to the relevant section.
