2 deceased in crash near Mildura

No word as yet to identities or aircraft type. We are not having a good run lately. Apparently hit powerlines.

Deepest sympathy to the families and friends involved.

Makes you ponder if the rates of aviation fatalities are rising or are we simply hearing about it more readily through social media sites etc. We just had one in Brissie this week too.

The Herald sun is marginally more descriptive. Bugger.

In the back of my mind I'm hoping it was a landing or takeoff accident and not low flying. If it was low flying we really seem to have a human factors issue out there that seems to be growing exponentially.

Pair killed in fiery plane crash | Mildura, Ouyen

"The recreational style plane" Sounds like it happened a reasonable amount of time before 8pm if they were removing bodies just after 8.

Last light Mildura

Last light for Feb 7 was 10:00 hours UTC.
They would have been in fading light or possibly sun glare scenerio ?
They must have planned a pretty short trip overall ?

Now another recreational aircraft has been reported crashed at 9am today (Friday) on the QLD border near Texas.

Not a good week!

I wouldn't get too uptight about the reported time and last light. Past experience would suggest that the reported incident time is lucky if its within an hour of the actual time.

Apologise for the drift but don't place any faith in what's written in the media. Journalists are scum. No integrity. No ethics. Bottom dwelling scum. Right up there with paedophiles and rapists.

@Defenestrator - that is the most stupid and ill-informed post I'll read today.

Most journalists are ethical professionals who take factual reporting very seriously.

A lot depends on the media source. For instance, the ABC or SBS are much better than commercial media such as talk-back radio or tabloid newspapers.

Most Journalists belong to a professional body. They are overseen by a couple of different professional and government regulatory bodies including the Australian Press Council.

Australia is fortunate to have some of the best newspapers in the world. The Australian Financial Review is one of them.

Peter: far from stupid and misinformed, Defenestrator's comment has merit.

Peter, after the drivel you posted here in this thread, it is hard to take anything you say seriously!

The ABC and SBS are absolute virtues of factual reporting - as long as you are of the socialist left bent...

Back to topic please

The article was quite clear that police removed bodies after or around 8. One can logically deduce that the accident happened some time earlier as seeking approval to perform that process would take some time. Just because it's dark or getting dark doesn't necessarily mean that you instantly hit powerlines or the aircraft stops flying.

PeterC005,

I'd be happy to post examples of the bollox and sensationalised crap that gets drivelled daily in every form of media but I doubt there's enough band width. I'm also not about pointedly offending people but to quote an idiots previous post, "that is the most stupid and ill-informed post I'll read today".
