An old yet depressing read

http://www.bitre.gov.au/publications...report_111.pdf

Stumbled on this looking for tax info, and I had to stop reading! Seems just as true today as 2005.

Now that IS an interesting read.

At least the authors got out of the bearaucratic throne and actually attempted to understand and convert into laymans terms what they were talking about.

One footnote that made me the most annoyed -

A condition of the sale of former Federal Airports Corporation airports was that the airport
lessees offer access to aircraft operators on reasonable commercial terms. Under the FAC,
access and pricing for general aviation users were on a non-commercial basis.

And I was staggered by this one -

A decline of 46 000 hrs—about 19 per cent—in the number of private
hours flown by VH registered, type certified fixed wing aircraft.

older and more depresisng reads

Get hold of some old RRPs and monthly bull!!!!!ins from the '90s...and be depressed, very depressed.
Stacks of paper, squillions of glossy words and all manner of wonderful things to make GA freer and easier... well, in some cases.
Aahh the hopes I and others had, that some of it might come to pass, alas like sparks from a camp fire,it all vanished into the darkness.

And The Darkness is still upon us.

Havent heard much from or about the Task Force of late. Some of the issues stated to be examined by the TF were the stuff of the 90s paper avalanche.
How true..history repeats itself.
