Next G between Darwin and Adelaide

Just wanting to find out what the coverage is like at say 7500 along the highway. The Telstra coverage map is only really relevant on the ground.

Thanks

Have done DN - TN - TNK - AS a few times at 9'000 - 10'000 and always had around 1-2 bars of coverage with NG.

Related question

Does anyone know about a mine/railway strip at a place called Wirrida - about 100km south of Coober Pedy?

I have to do a job there and Google shows an airstrip right at the railway line where I need to be.

Size/owner/permissions/surface - etc?

Did a quick google and all I could find was:

Wirrida Siding Airport

05/23 is 3758 ft (1145 m) long

No description on surface though!

Hope it helps a little, there isn't a lot of info on it!

Arrium mining have a mine under construction about 100kms south of Coober Pedy - i drove through there the day before yesterday.

It all looked fairly new, the ore deposit must spend the road as they are installing three underpasses on the Stuart Highway, the earthworks are done but not yet sealed.

Can't comment on the strip, but the above might point you in the right direction.

I usually use the Iridium at FL410 around there. Much easier through the headset.

How are you connecting the iridium to the headset?

UTR, Wirrida rail siding is where the line heads East from the North South railway to the OZ Minerals mine at Prominent Hill. That's about 130km SE of Coober Pedy. There is a strip at Prominent Hill for fly in/out miners but PPR is required by Ad Manager. Refer YPMH, ERSA.

That's up to those funny electronics engineers. I just dial the number on the overhead keypad and then push the appropriate button on the ACP on the pedestal and talk .

It's for uploading of telemetry data. Too costly for satellite.
