Question RAAF Pilot Career Now a Priority Job?

As the title says, does this mean the RAAF need pilots? Normally one would have to scroll down to the bottom of the page, and hidden there would be the pilot career. Are the RAAF short of pilots? Would this be a good time for someone to join the RAAF?

- Cheers

Honeydew,
The RAAF always need pilots. There is the requirement to always have guys at all levels of experience so there is no massive exodus or glut at one experience level, either through, age, promotion, retirement, civil recruitment etc.

The only question is has recruiting sped up or slowed down a little due to the cyclical nature of recruiting? The answer is it doesn't really matter. If you are keen then you simply apply. If you are waiting for a time when they need LOTS of pilots I have two points. Firstly, perhaps the person applying is not the right person if they are trying for an "easy ride" and secondly, that person may want to be careful as it may not occur in their time.

Traditionally when the economy is poor, recruiting slows - but doesnt stop - as people stay longer due to less opportunities outside. In times of a strong economy recruiting generally speeds up as there are more opportunies outside so separation rates are higher.

Cheers
