Refinery at Kurnell - Avgas

Refinery at Kurnell - Avgas
Does anybody know if they refine Avgas at Kurnell and if so what the impact will be on avgas prices/supply over the coming years.

Apparently there is a good chance that nothing will be refined at Kurnell in the not too distant future. Or anywhere in Australia! Apparently, if you believe the oil companies, Australia's refineries are becoming so expensive to operate/maintain that they are set to walk away and import it all from the "super-refinery" in India. That's Avgas, Jet, Diesel and Petrol - the works 
!!

Much more modern and efficient plant in Singapore, Kurnell is a legacy from the 50s.
LAbour costs and productivity higher in Singapore although this is largely due to scale of prodction. Kurnell production wasn't helped by recent upgrade requirements in terms of desulphurisation which was much harder to achieve in plant as old as Kurnell.

Just can't wait till we face a mega plant shutdown in India or Singapore and have to bring in refined fuel from say the US. How will the population handle fuel jumping to $3 a litre overnight if that had to happen?
And let's face it, large chemical plants in third world or emerging economies have a tendency to shut down for various reasons.
I'm a little tired of successive governments throwing hundreds of millions of dollars a year at local car manufacturers (who build outdated products no one wants) and not spending a cent on safeguarding industries like refining that could have a critical effect on the economy if they failed/shut down.
So why are Shell setting up to spend billions on a CNG plant but we can't get any benefit from this? Why aren't we as a nation using this natural gas ourselves, to fuel power stations, large, currently diesel powered equipment etc? We have the proven technology to do it. Why sell our resources off for a pittance and struggle to fuel ourselves??? I thought Labor/Greens were for reduced carbon emissions...natural gas power plants is clearly a step in that direction???
I bet the government is making it look very attractive financially for Shell to set this plant up, but it will employ a vast amount of foreign staff according to Shell. Why not direct some money at Caltex and help them set up a new refinery somewhere sensible?

2nd Oz AVGAS refinery
AVGAS 100LL Blue is still Produced at Shell's refinery Geelong.
So where do they sell it?
Shell have been pulling out their bowsers and cancelling carnets for some time.
And the current price is ridiculous compared to the $1.27 per litre I saw E10 advertised at last night.

Kaz, just because it's produced by shell, doesn't mean it's sold under the shell name. They buy and sell to each other all the time. The most convenient refinery usually supplies all the local outlets, regardless of brand.

Petrochemical Refined products are just another traded commodity, now we have the technical capabilty to safely transport the volatile liquids there is no real reason to maintain refining capacity.
