Aero club buildings broken into, multiple times, rear wheels stolen from an old Ford Facon wagon used to tow the Gliding club caravan round the field......FFS we are dealing with some rally screwed up ferals

sounds like time for a shotgun camp out.
I'd still recommend that once apprehended the ferals have a 'meeting' with a few Ppruners I know. And their baseball bats!
