Was this contract continued to another operator?

But at least they go out of their way to get our service men home to their families via the quickest routing after a long deployment, don't they, Shagpile?

Adagold dont get much choice wrt schedule and route, that is determined by JMOVGP, otherwise know as the department of hurry-up and wait.

At least to get to UAE from Adelaide it is only now:

Adelaide - Sydney (Qantas)
[Adagold breaks for 2 days]
Sydney - Townsville (Adagold)
Townsville - Darwin (Adagold)
Darwin - Minhad (Adagold)

The old route with Strategic used to be 40+ hrs non-stop via Kuwait and a 4hr bus trip at the end. Now THAT was lame!

On the way home you get to see QF757 take off from Darwin-Adelaide while sitting in the terminal waiting for them to fix the aircraft, run out of crew duty, spend a night in Darwin, then go via Townsville & Sydney again.

Sigh.

Yikes! Don’t start me on the time when Strategic had a leased Omni DC-10, the old bird went u/s in every port on the way back from the MEAO. Tin city in Darwin was a blast!
