Certificate of Validation Foreign CPL.

Hello Ppruners,

I cannot find an answer to this question anywhere on CASA's website. I am posting this in the hope that someone can shed light.

Basically, I have a UK CPL with a current CASA COV which means I can carry out commercial operations within Australia for a period of three months. While I am working on converting my UK CPL to an Ozzy CPL I wonder, do CASA issue COV's more than once on the same foreign CPL (i.e revalidation of the COV) or can extensions be made for those who do not manage to convert their foreign licence within 3 months?

Thanks in advance,

AM

I've seen C of Vs being extended (for a fee of course) but only seen this done for private operations.

renew CoV

You can renew your CoV up to three months each or limit by your UK med/license validation date (which ever come first).
BUT if you have a student pilot license you can sit CLWA exam without the CoV.
You will need CoV again for flight training for the conversion (I dont know why CASA dont use the student license for this)

Thank you for the information guys.

I have just spoken with CASA who inform me that a COV on a foreign CPL can be issued more than once. There is actually no limit to the amount of times you can obtain the COV.

Only problem is that you need to apply to extend it 1 month before it expires in order to ensure continuity. CASA then issue it when they get to it. In my experience this can be within a few days of sending in the application. Means that you can actually only get 2 months out of c of v instead of 3 months.

Good thing is though, the guys and girls at CASA are very helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with.
If you're flying for a CAR 217 company you can combine CIR and CPL flight test with a base check. CASA were not aware of this until our chief pilot told me to point out that part of the regs to them.
Saved me a small fortune.
PM me if you want more info.
