Amphibian C208 training

Hi All

I am looking for help and advice in choosing a good place to train on the Amphibian Caravan in Australia.

Sydney, Gold Coast or the Whitsundays?

Cheers

Ivry, I don't think there are any vans on straight floats in Australia

As far as I know you've got three choices in Australia.

Sea Air at the Gold Coast do Caravan endorsements but I'm not sure if they've got a van on floats at the moment (last I heard it was on wheels), but worthwhile giving them a call Training.

Sydney Seaplanes have a good fleet of vans and Beavers. Float Training

Last, but not least, Air Whitsundays also does endorsements Air Whitsunday Seaplanes | Seaplane Endorsements & Seaplane Advanced Floatplane Training

Sorry, bad attempt at tongue in cheek. Read: any van on floats in oz would be an amphib, probably should have just left that bit out

Thanks

Thanks for your input.

Anyone out there who's flying, or who's flown with these operators who might have some much appreciated feedback?

Are you float rated already?

If so then in Oz you won't need to do the endo on an amphib and just a wheeled machine.

Piano Man

No Sir, I am not float rated yet.

I've got some time on the Caravan, though I doubt it would help much.

Best to call or email and have a chat to them all. Sydney Seaplanes have done international students/Pilots before and do a lot of consulting for other companies but they are not the cheapest.

SEAir on the Gold Coast is your best bet.
The most knowledgable as far as vans go by far.

What is your situation?

If you are new to floats then my advice is to get your ticket on a piston machine and gain ICUS, but if you are caravan specific or have to get checked out due employment then either go for a place that has them on floats already.

As mentioned Sydney do training but are expensive, however sxf is a nice machine. Air Whitsunday do float training and fairly sure that covers caravan training too. Machines are not as nice but it is one very nice part of the world to train in!
