Organisations - Private Hire and Post-PPL Training Melbourne

Myself and a colleague have recently moved to Melbourne, and are relatively unfamiliar with the aviation scene down here.

We are both recently PPL qualified, though a little out of practice, so we're interested in finding a training organisation (reputable, not a pilot factory) for occasional private hire, with a view to more training in the future.

I've had a brief look at the RVAC, but I'd like to know about some other organisations as well.

Moorabbin is preferable, but we're open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

(Note - I'm sure similar questions have been posted in the past, however a brief search turned up nothing satisfactory. If you'd like to vent your spleen, please try somewhere else.)

P.S - If you'd like to suggest any organisations to avoid - it's probably best to PM me, to avoid any issues with libel etc.

MB.. Tristar Aviation or MFS.

Coldstream. Yarra Valley Flight Training. New company, good atmosphere. Dual school with both RAA/GA.

If you want to hire aircraft and fly socialy choose an aero club.
Choose one with a selection of well maintained aircraft of different types.
If you enjoy a drink or a meal as well you should probably re visit RVAC at Moorabbin.
The Aero Bar serves great food.

My suggestion would be to drive an hour or so in your chosen direction & choose a country club eg echuca, shepparton, lilydale, etc etc save money and time and usually in a much better atmosphere, spend the weekend away and have an all around better experience.....

I think you should call in and talk to a couple to find one with an atmosphere you like. If you want to do further training, I'd be looking at Bini or MFS. If you just want to fly you might consider a share in the Melbourne Aviation Group or hire from Mark Howe at Blue Demon. Peninsula Aero Club at Tyabb or RVAC at Coldstream are not bad out of town options.

Try Pearson Aviation at Essendon Airport. Essendon is close to the city, serviced by public transport and has a range of facilities other than just aviation. You can usually get a plane when you want it and staff at Pearsons are friendly and there is no BS.

I have a few leads now, so I'll try to go investigate some of these places in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
