Yesterday here was terrible, heavy rain all day, hail the size of tennis balls, all flights into Melbourne grounded and that was just the start. We had lightning that didn't go anywhere for over an hour.

It was chaos at MEL last night. Due to lack of departures, Tulla almost ran out of Tarmac space. Multiple QF flights waited on the ground more than three hours for a gate. Block times of more than 5 hours for SYD- MEL services. Perth service (already 1:45 late due broken a/c earlier in the day) was on the ground for 3:40. It finally arrived on blox at 0047 local. Sked was 1915.

Not a great night out.

Almost ran out? We landed about 8pm - there was one heavy behind us that ended up camped on the southern end of 16 for about 10 minutes....

I was under a thunderclap (near west gate bridge) at about 6pm, that absolutely scared the bejesus out of me!(in a car thankfully) I was coming over the bridge a little earlier, and saw what looked like one of the med choppers going into YMEN Cant imagine that would have been a whole lot of fun..Or maybe it would?
Its reminding me of days in the late 80s early 90s where it just rained solid for hours.

Its been raining steadily/heavily this arvo as well around central Melbourne..
