Australian CPL candidates!
G'day all,
I've just completed my CHUF exam with 88%. My questions is, does that end the exam, even if I didn't get 100%? Or do I need to take my KDR to an ATO and prove that I know the items held within?

In short, yes, you need to demonstrate to an ATO that you understand each and every item in all 7 KDR reports for your subjects.
If the info is fresh in your head I'd suggest that you do a bit of a writeup on each KDR item in preparation for your CPL test when you will get quizzed on all those items, plus the extra stuff for your CPL test.

When you do your CPL flight test, you must show the KDRs - to prove that you have passed all the subjects. The testing officer will ask you a variety of theory questions.
The testing officer can ask about anything, but assume they will include questions about things that show up in the KDRs.
Before your flight test, revise and pay extra attention to the KDRs - especially any subjects where you only just scraped through. If you got through with 70% in Systems, you can be sure you'll get quizzed plenty on Systems

Awesome! Thanks for your help. And I think you're right, I think I'll just go to the ATO at my flying school a day or so after my exams, however long it takes me to refresh the stuff I got wrong, and get it over and done with.

I've yet to do systems! But now you've said that I think I'll leave it 'till last and make sure it's fresh in my mind! I think my next one will be the open book, air law. The only drag in that exam is lugging around the 100000kgs of books that you need...

Yep. Make sure you match up your KDRs with the relevant areas of the day VFR syllabus and study up on all the points listed. Also a good tip is to do the KDRs with the ATO on a different day to your CPL test if possible, so you don't exhaust all of your brain power prior to the flight test.

And remember that the things in the exam are not there to be forgotten about after the exam is done, it is stuff you need to know ALWAYS. We can quiz you on anything (as well as the KDRs, which can be delegated out to someone else) in the syllabus on test day and you need to convince us that you will still know it years down the track.

When I did my various flight tests, I wrote up about 50-200 words on each KDR item (Depending on what the KDR was) and gave it to my instructor to look over, and then the ATO on the day of my test. It cut down the briefing times a heap, as he could look over and ask me a question here and there without feeling he has to go through every item.

Yeah, I'm just taking the syllabus references contained within the KDR and writing notes on each one.
It was nothing I didn't already know, I guess, the questions were just worded somewhat ambiguously. But then again, that was only CHUF, from what I hear the most common sense filled exam.
@Turban - good luck printing everything aside from AIP! Dude, that's like, I won't even hazard a guess as to how many pages, but for each set of CAOs, CARs and CAAPs a wooded area the size of Canberra dies, so you do the math! =P And thanks for the good luck, you too, mate! =)

I printed the CAR & CAOs myself, not that big of a deal.
Office works - 2 reams of paper, 2 80mm folders, 1 pack 5 divider tabs, access to a office printer and about an hours worth of printing (make sure you double side print!) cost me less than $30.
Sure beats the retarded amount casa try and sting you for!

Printed them a 2 weeks before the exam, amendments not needed. Now I just keep an eye out for amendments and my school lets me know when they get theirs so I can go and print what I need or copy it
