Catalina Foundation festival and seaplane splash-in

The Catalina foundation in conjunction with the Seaplane Pilots Association Australia will be holding the Catalina Festival on the 5th of November at Rathmines – Lake Macquarie.

This year will be the Fifth annual Catalina Festival and splash-in held to raise money to bring VH-CAT a PBY Catalina back into the air.

There will be aircraft displays each hour including - The RAAF Roulettes and HARS PBY Catalina plus seaplane joy flights in the good old DHC-2 Beaver.

Show us your Seaplane skills!

As part of the Catalina foundation splash in at Rathmines on the 5th of November, a Seaplane flying competition will be held. Forced landing, spot landing and mooring accuracy being judge with prizes for the winner. Don't have your own Seaplanes? No problem! A C-180 and DHC-2 will be available for use. Prizes for best presented aircraft.

Hope to see some of you at Rathmines.

Its Sydney Seaplanes Beaver.

The Catalina Association web page is down at the moment, they seem to have lost the keys....

I have been informed by the organiser that the HARS Catalina has been confirmed but I believe for an overfly only as they are trying to keep it out of the salt.

Rathmines Seaplane splash-in reminder 5th of November – Roulettes Attending!

The 5th of November is less than two weeks away now and the final touch’s are being put together for the festival and splash-in.

This year looks bigger and better than the last with more activities more flying and more fun planned. The Roulettes will flying a display at approximately 1330 and then returning to the festival to sign autographs and talk with the public plus we will have the Tiger Moth fly past, aerobatics and lots more scheduled all day.

Unfortunatly the HARs Catalina will not be attending due to insurance problems, although there are rumors of the Qantas Catalina making an apperance - Not confirmed though!

Scenic flights will also be available in a DHC-2 Beaver from 10am.

Hope to see some of you there!

Ok, what inside information did you have back on Oct 25th ????? If it has a rat, I spose the smelly green midget grounded the Qantas Catalina as well?

Have fun splashing in folks.
