Plane goes missing during test flight

Would this perhaps be an endorsement type of flight?

Plane goes missing during test flight

Authorities say an ultralight plane missing in central Queensland was on a pre-sale test flight.

The Rescue Co-ordination Centre Australia says the ultralight took off from Emerald Airport at 3:00pm yesterday with two men on board, but failed to return by last light.

The overnight search involved a plane from Cairns and a rescue helicopter from Mackay.

Search crews used infrared and night vision goggles but failed to find the ultralight.

Authorities searched east of Emerald, after the aircraft was last sighted heading in a south-easterly direction.

A more intensive search is being carried out this morning, using five helicopters over a similar search area.

A spokeswoman says the aircraft was on a pre-sale "familiarisation flight".

I'm simply asking was this a flight made by a purchaser or a tire kicker? The relevance might be whether emergency procedures were being demonstrated. I know of at least Two near misses associated with the former.

Two men have died in an ultralight plane crash in central Queensland.

The aircraft went missing yesterday and Leonie Hanson from CQ Rescue says the wreckage was found this afternoon.

"We have a doctor who flys on board the RACQ, CQ helicopter and he has confirmed that both people on board are deceased," she said.

"I believe the wreckage was not far from the Emerald Airport itself, about three nautical miles from the airport."

The cause of the crash is not known and police are at the scene.

The Rescue Coordination Centre Australia says the ultralight took off from Emerald Airport at 3:00pm on Wednesday but failed to return by last light.

Search crews from Cairns and Mackay used infrared and night vision goggles but failed to find the ultralight overnight.

Offices for "Wallahs".

Cockpits for pilots.

We bury 'em, we miss them - but, at the end of a long shift it's the only way to go.

There but for grace of God, go I.

Tailwinds and safe home boys.
