This serial pest has put his threat to tamper with a chopper in writing and verbally via the media for the last few weeks.
Yet he was free to walk the streets.
Today, low and behold he goes and does it.
If you or I made such threats once, we'd be locked up.
Cut a gate and rode his bike across the GA Tarmac to get to it.
This will set us back another 10 years. They will probably remove all gates and install a Berlin wall instead.

I've been in Rockhampton lately and this clown has been spruiking his anti-war ant-Government anti-US anti-Australian crap in the main street since the exercise up there began, and as rioncentu said, has been threatening to do damage military equipment for weeks.
Hopefully the full force of the law will come down upon this gentleman but more than likely he will receive a slap on the wrist, and at worse a good behaviour bond.

Yes, this guy is a muppet, but where were the Rocky security muppets in all of this? He breaks in, rides across the tarmac and 'attacks' a helicopter before being restrained by army personnel.
Meanwhile, I park a turboprop at the southern end of the apron and are required to leave my leatherman, screwdrivers, crash axe etc in the plane while I enter the terminal building, clear security and go back to my plane. Why? Because I park on the main apron I must be a security threat to the Virgin and Qantas aircraft and must be checked. Doesn't seem to matter I have left all of my 'weapons' in the plane and will have 3000lbs of jet-A1 strapped to my back in 5 minutes time.
For the second time this week I was also cleared back out to the tarmac without a valid ASIC (expired in June). I had the appropriate credentials to cover me if needed, but security didn't check the date on my ASIC anyway.

Anyway, I hope the lock the loony up for a good stint, or better still, send him to Afghanistan and he can preach his anti-war propaghanda there. I'm sure he'll have a captive audience.
What about the TV crew that filmed his performance? Surely a case against those sensation-seeking numpties for aiding and abetting, or at least for being aware of an illegal act and doing nothing to report or prevent it.

And yet, if he was shot before attacking said tiger, the do gooders would be screaming it was a peaceful protest and over zealous security. Mind you, if the tv crews caught that, it would make great television.

But funnily enough, every time I've had to enter the airport at the GA gate they've checked my ASIC and taken down all the details.
The lax ASIC checks I mentioned are when accessing the apron from the passenger terminal - surely one of the areas where they should be most diligent!
This is pretty damning on a number of fronts. The only real purpose an ASIC has is to allow a person to have unescorted access to a security controlled airport, provided the airport in question approves that access. Clearly though you can get unescorted access right up to the aircraft of your choice at Rockhampton.
Many here will know from my previous posts that I have a fair bit to do with the security side of things but I certainly cannot deny any of the comments made here about the futility of the whole exercise. THe fact is, this could have happened at just about every airport in Australia. I just hope it doesn't result in a total knee jerk by the regulators who impose even greater prescriptive security requirements upon the industry.
I think the military has to accept some sort of responsibility for this also. I've even seen RAAF jets parked up with nothing more than an un monitored security fence between them and the general public and not a single person in sight. Many years ago when AAvn was operating Nomads, I remember doing overnight picquets at remote rural airfields while they were parked up at night. I suppose now that so much of the manpower in defence has been outsourced to contractors who only do what is in their job statements, getting people to do some of these more mundane tasks is a little more difficult.

These choppers were parked ON the runway. The operator (bless their cotton socks) closes a large chunk of the runway to park the choppers on.
So he didn't just get through the fence, he crossed the entire GA apron and got onto a (closed) section of Runway.
It was interesting to notice that the goons had a full-time security guard monitoring the erection of a large tent for a couple of days in which the choppers are maintained, yet it seems no-one cares too much about the choppers themselves.

Rocky is a pain big time with security when you park within the security area
