Adelaide Airport Limited - Coming to an Airport near you.
I can just see them driving down the price of fuel, rental cars, landing fees, hangar leases, passenger charges etc, once they have a monopoly on SA regional airports.
SA Advertiser On-Line
ADELAIDE Airport wants to take control of the state's regional airports.
The consortium that manages and runs the Adelaide and Parafield airports is negotiating leasing arrangement with the State Government and the councils that own the eight regional facilities.
The airports it wants to control are Kingscote, Coober Pedy, Whyalla, Ceduna, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta, Mount Gambier and Broken Hill.
If the bid is successful it would approach airlines to fly passengers directly into the regional SA airports.
From the 1970s to the 1990s, the federal Government transferred ownership of regional airports to local councils.
Airports Association national chairman John McArdle, who is also Adelaide Airport's corporate affairs manager, said if the bid succeeded, there would be some sort of business arrangement or partnership with the councils.

Can't see it happening.

Well it goes back to the old argument the put forward by airport owners to justify huge landing fees back in GAAP zones "Well if yacht owners are paying a fortune to moor their yachts..."
creation of a total monopoly I'd say. Total control of the state's aviation infrastructure.
Councils will love it as they'll believe the BS and get a cheque every month and not be responsible for further investment. Communities will see higher taxes and charges that's all. GA, well bye bye...
Socialism by default.

"....approach airlines to fly directly......"
So does this mean he thinks he can convince JQ to fly into Ceduna and QF into Whyalla for example????

Socialism by default.
This is not socialism; that would involve imposing higher landing fees on the airlines at Adelaide and using it to support the lack of income at other airports.
This is rampant capitalism, the control of non-performing assets and then screwing every last drop of blood out of them whatever the cost.
