Auster VH-KBH

Anyone with info on whats happened to this aircraft. Details on the web say damaged in a forced landing 11.10.85 No further info or elaboration available. Rego later went to a B200 used for RAAF training at Sale.

While we're here does anyone know what happened to Auster Mk III -BYJ? Apparently 'damaged in a storm' and the rego reallocated to a Yak ,but I'd love to know if it still exists; Jack Ellis sent me solo in it at Moorooduc many many moons ago.

VH BYJ registered 21/05/54 to 16/08/79. originally A11-27 S/N 333.

Blew over 1978. Purchased 1998 by John Carr. Can't find any more sorry.

I would suggest a start at Murwillumbah. PM me if you are serious enough to make phone calls. I have a few numbers.

John sold it a couple of years ago in a partially restored state.

Thanks Frank and Wunwing. When I flew BYJ in the mid seventies it was all-over yellow and stripped of lighting/electrics. A bit 'doggy' but the only thing a high school kid could afford to fly once or twice a month. Later repainted in a rather ghastly maroon, yellow and white scheme.

From Moorooduc in those times I also remember Austers various, a 'Darter Commander' (stolen by joyriders and fatally crashed on the field) a Cessna and a thing called a Meta-Sokol. And of course 'Cranky Jack'!

I located this plane in 2009. I have sent another email to get an update on it and will report in due course.

This is her in about 1955. My father was learning to fly while at Duntroon.
