Have stayed at the moonee ponds quest apartments for the races when across the strait. need to book early if needed long term.

The helicopter school at Essendon has accommodation available upstairs - available to people needing to be at essendon but not necessarily at the heli school.

Its pretty nice, and you can look out the window straight into the control tower.
