The Skywest website doesn't appear to have anything on it regarding even expressions of interest for the ATR. Given what Mr Hat and GAFA have said and taking into consideration the closeness of all this happening, would it be unrealistic for VB themselves to be planning to crew the aircraft? Operated by Skywest, crewed by... It seemed like from the start it was 100% Skywest employment (a la Cobham perhaps for example) but is that necessarily the case now?

No plans for Virgin to crew them, pilots, cabin crew and engineers all Skywest.

Skywest Advertising on AFAP

Suprised i'm the first to be posting this;

Australian Federation of Air Pilots - test page - 2

Will be interesting to see the T&C's, hopefully they will reveal these prior to interwiew stages.

My mistake, already being discussed in Reporting points.

Skywest pilots training with Air NZ link

On a recent flight in NZ between Christchurch and Rotorua there was a training ATR-72-500 pilot onboard from skywest, training with Mount Cook airlines for operations with Virgin Australia. It was kinda annoying cause if he wasn't in there I could have gone in the jumpseat for the whole flight. Oh well.... HAHA

Their big flight with CASA for AOC approval is coming up. Only a handful of pilots had ATR endorsements, so the rest are getting up to scratch i.e. 50 hours ICUS for Captains.

You can apply via the Skywest website..... as I didn't see the AFAP advertisement until it was to late (and then it disappeared), but I know someone who has ample turboprop hours who went through the website and got rejected because they didn't have passes in year 12 physics but had two degrees in applied maths! ..... haha, what a joke.

But apart from that I have heard that a couple Rex Capt's and f/o's are on hold for it and some have left already, and more are keen to go.

Starting wage Capt 105k b4 flight bonus's. So a very good deal indeed if its correct! Maybe Rex better take some notes.....

I believe that the 170's are going and the 190's are staying longer.

Does anyone have some insight into future hiring at VARA? Any new ATR positions to come online in the near future? Have they manage to get any ATR's that were sitting around put into service?
