Super Cecil: Yoot may be spelt that way in your country, but elsewhere it is spelt Ute, which is an abbreviation for Utility.

When I was working on a Venom, we had two dive bottles running through a Tee piece and into a modified cartridge cover on the starter to enable the use of compressor air. It worked well, and saved the cartridges.

The Australian RAAF and RAN C47s had electric/inertia starters fitted. The civilianised C47s and production DC3s had straight electric starters. You can tell the difference during start because you can hear the initia system winding up before the prop begins to turn.
So to answer the original question, the ex VIP, RAAF aircraft were fitted with electric/inertia starters.
For those of you heading off to Avalon, have a listen to the HARS C47 during start and compare it to any of the other DC3s around over the show.
