Class 2 medical renewal?
I need to get my class 2 medical renewed.
Does it take as long as the initial medical took or is it shortened?
Does it cost the same ?
Cheers.

Go to The CASA Website....
CASA-dot-GOV-dot-AU
There are links to the Aviation Medical Section and further links to renewal requirements for the various categories of medicals, based on what you did for the initial issue, it will be easy to see if the renewal requirements are less or the same.

aaronb, the following link should help you out
Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Medical certificate requirements
Havn't done a "Class 2 Renewal" for several years as mine have been 1's, but it will probably take about as long as your initial unless you require extra checks due to any identified conditions.
As for will it cost the same? Depends which doc you go to- they all charge different amounts. Have seen it range from about $140-$350 for a basic Class 1 renewal - PLUS the $75 CASA processing fee.
Jack you are definitely right about those new forms... Sh!te !
Make sure your doc has them as CASA won't accept the old ones any more, and word is the print run of the new stock is a little behind.

Aaron. You do your medical and the Vet signs your old form on the spot to the effect that he has renewed it. Look on the last page for the spot where its signed. That is good for Two (?) weeks. Meanwhile he sends the paperwork to CASA who should send you a fresh class Two before the extension expires. No problems. Don't worry.
The extension medical certification on your current medical status form lasts a max of two months.
A little comparison shopping may be warranted after reading a few of the quoted prices.
I think my class 1 costs me about $150.
When did the "new form" start to be used? I renewed in November and the form looked like the previous 20 or so that I'd filled out. Be a bit careful with your hours though - sometimes they check and I got a rocket a few years back for claiming about 1000 less than the last year.
