Vale Keith Eddy DFC MBE

Keith Eddy, a leader in Australian Air Traffic Control, was born on Australia Day 1920 and passed away Saturday January 22nd.

As one of the returning WWII aircrew he established a position in Melbourne ATC and ended up as SSATC Vic/Tas.

His leading example, caused his controllers to call him 'The Big E'. He ended his ATC career in 1987.

He maintained contact with his colleagues, attending their EXATCO lunch after passing his Ninetieth birthday.

He will be sorely missed.

Sad to read of his passing. I remember him in my ATC Trainee days. If I recall, there was a console button in Melbourne Tower on which someone had marked 'GOD' which was a direct line to his office in the main terminal. No-one ever dared press it....
