Avalon

I'm a but worried at the moment, my wife who has no interest in aviation has suggested we go to Avalon this year! I'm wondering what she is after!

That said we are now looking for recommendations on where to stay and transport options, any recommendations gratefully recieved!

That's a bit tricky when we dont know where you are coming from. Assuming you are not a Victorian.......

You can fly into Avalon on Jetstar or Tiger from some Aussie ports and the nearest town is Geelong. Suggest you pick up a car at the airport. You might be able to get accommodation in Geelong but it fills up at airshow time - book now. This is the way to go if you can get on a flight to Avalon and get accommodation in Geelong.

Flights into Avalon are less frequent this year. An alternative is flying into Tullamarine and picking up a car there. Should be places to stay on the western side of Melbourne, but you have a much longer drive to the airshow. I'll let the Melburnians suggest where to stay.

You can also get a train to Lara station from Melbourne or Geelong and a shuttle to the airshow.

There is another thread about charter flights flying into the show from Moorabbin and Essendon. Maybe you could stay near one of those airfields, again you will need a car to get around.

We know what that means Jaba, she wants another one of those all expenses paid shopping trips whilst you are wandering the stands at Oshkosh..... that's gonna cost ya.

but dont make the mistake of teaching your wife to fly like i did, cant get her out of the thing now, and when it goes US for whatever reason, i get constant nagging, when will it be fixed? ring the paople to get them to ship the part early? why cant i fly it if its overdue for its 100hrly? what do you mean the brakes are wearing out? what do you mean they have to make the new part? cant they just get it off the shelf?
