B737NG Check (NZ CAA)
I'm looking to take an ATPL check for the issue of an NZ ATPL. I'd like to do the check in a B737NG sim. The problem is trying to find and NZ CAA examiner (B737NG) in Australia (where the sims are). I've tried Boeing, Qantas and Ansett with no luck, mostly no reply.
Would anyone have any idea if there are NZ CAA B737NG approved examiners in Oz?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks for the above. I was looking at that angle, but a buddy ex Pac Blue said their examiners traveled over with them from NZ? However things may have changed since then.
Gidday,
I did the exact thing about 3 years ago. I was based in Asia and needed to do my NZ ATPL in the NG.
I contacted CAA for advice and their solution was to get an examiner from NZ to fly over to Brisbane and do the check...catch was, I had to pay for his flights, accommodation and an hourly rate from the time he left home = way too expensive
Anyway, I got Stu Weston to do my check he is the only CAA approved guy based in Oz to issue NZ ATPL's. He was working with PB at the time but is now examining wih VA, he would be your best bet. Sorry, I no longer have his contact details. Anyone....?

As mentioned above. Would anyone have a contact details for Stu Weston or how to get in touch with him with regards to an ATPL check? I've had no luck with Boeing in BNE.
Feel free to PM me, cheers.

Just a heads up,
I have a feeling that Stu ain't current on the NG any more and might not be able to do checks on the NG...
Can a company flight examiner issue an ATPL to someone who does a check from outside the company?
I just ask because quite often companies have a matrix type system for their checks, allowing their company checkies to only check company pilots. The company checks are NOT valid for operations outside company flying....
i.e I can't use my company recurrency IFR renewal to go and privately fly IFR outside company ops.. apparently its a NZ CAA thing....

Air NZ can do and have done ATPL flight tests in all the jet simulators.
B737-300, A320, B747-400, B767 and B777
Only a few Air NZ examiners on on each type are approved and can do the flight test. The approval lasts only for two years, then has to be renewed by CAA.
NZ CAA inspectors can do the test but they are very expensive as you have to pay the flight test fee, the travel time and travel cost from Wellington plus ground time.

Forgive me as I am not au fait with the NZ regs, however if you are trying to achieve an NG endorsement and an ATPL checkride then why not use the Air NZ classic sim to get a 737 endorsement, have your checkride in this sim and then travel to Aus to do a differences course and have NG added to your licence? It may be another way to skin the cat and possibly cheaper.

He is after a NG rated examiner ... not classic 737

Hi Frogone,
Any luck on the issue of a NZ CAA ATPL. Did you manage to get a hold of Stu Weston? I need to do the same thing on the NG.. I tried Air NZ, very Exp. I was banking on Stu weston but can't get a hold of him. Alternatively was thinking to do FAA ATPL.
