I assume you can't get much for any functional spares as there as so many in the boneyards...... seems a sad waste ........But SIMS will recycle her no doubt!

Another disgraceful act. I remember well when VH-TXH (AaE 727)was "murdered" by the metal cutter/crusher and disposed of for scrap metal.

I still feel uneasy every time I drink Victoria Bitter from a can!

That's really sad. I wish I hadn't looked . I suppose with the noise restrictions on 727s they're just not viable any more.

No thanks, one of our Flight Engineers made up a very memorable DVD of the event complete with funeral march music. I could only watch it once.

Spot on! N71001U was 727 number 1, now restored you'll be pleased to hear, below. I'm assuming that's the Seattle Museum of Flight?

YouTube - Number 1 Boeing 727 N7001U Restoration

And the Comet fuselage must be the Mexicana machine.

There are at least three more 727s currently for sale . . . not flown for the last 19 years!

For sale: five slightly used Iraqi Boeing jets

The Age October 6, 2010

Iraqi Airways has put up for sale five Boeing passenger jets that have been stranded in Jordan for 19 years, the state-owned carrier said in a newspaper advert published yesterday in the kingdom.

"Iraqi Airways wants to sell three Boeing 727-200s and two Boeing 707s which are currently located at the Queen Alia International Airport" south of Amman, said the advertisement in the government-owned Al-Rai Arabic daily.
It added bidders should submit their offers by October 20.

Six Iraqi Airways planes have been grounded in Jordan since UN sanctions were slapped on Iraq following the invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 by the forces of late dictator Saddam Hussein.

Tuesday's newspaper advertisement gave no indication of the status of the sixth aircraft.

Jordan has said the aircraft were part of Iraqi assets frozen in the kingdom, adding it is owed about four million dollars in fees for harbouring the planes.
Iraq said in May it will be forced to close down the airline over $US1.2 billion ($A1.23 billion) that Kuwait Airways claims it is owed in a dispute dating back to Saddam's invasion of the emirate.

Kuwait says 10 of its planes as well as aircraft parts were plundered after its airport was seized during the invasion.

That 727 is located at Everett.

Small but good museum.

She'll never move to Boeing Field ( on her own power anyway )

727 deliberately sunk at Mehmet Springs, Illinois...

Boeing 727
While it's not as good as flying, it's a grander burial than being ripped apart for frypans . On my dive holiday list.
